Really Moving On

“Wake up! Breanna!” Sarah’s high pitched voice woke me from my sleep. I sat up groggily, she was peering over me in an urgent manner.

“Okay, I’m up. Just give me a few minutes.” I went to my bathroom and got cleaned up before I met her in the kitchen.

“How did you get in?” I asked her. I brewed myself a cup of coffee and gave her one as well.

“Your spare key under the eave.” She looked very down, and not like her usual perky self.

“What’s wrong, yesterday your phone call was quite troubling.” She shook her head.

“I knew I shouldn’t have said anything…”

“What? Is it Daniel?” She nodded.

“Oh, what happened?”

“Well after class we went for coffee, just like we planned and then it just slipped out of my mouth.”

“What? You told him you liked him?”

“No, I told him I loved him.”

“What?” I exclaimed.

“You what? Sarah…have I been this far gone?” I had no idea how she felt.

“No, I never told you. I didn’t realize it until I said it…he’s everything I’ve ever wanted Breanna- he’s perfect. Funny, nice, smart…I’m in love with him.”

“What exactly did he say, did he just leave?”

“No, but he might as well have. He said he had to go and that he would see me in class, as if I said nothing of importance to him.”

“I’m so sorry…that’s horrible of him though, he didn’t even talk about it?”

“I didn’t expect him to, I just sprung it on him. He needs time.”

“No, he needs decency. I can’t believe he did that to you.”

“It’s okay…the fault is mine I guess. I will see him eventually, sooner or later he’ll have to speak to me.”

“True, but- I don’t know. He shouldn’t have just left you like that.”

“I shocked him, men are easily shocked, especially by the ‘l’ word.” We both laughed a little bit. It is true though. I told Josh that I loved him first, it took him a while to say it back but I knew that he did. Once he said it, it was like he couldn’t stop.

“But tell me about your date, I need some cheering up.”

“Well his name is Charlie by the way, and it was nice. He took me to a restaurant that I later discovered hiss parent own. We talked over dinner, he’s really nice- I think.”

“Did you have sex again?” She asked bluntly.

“Yes, on the couch.”

“Ew, remind me not to sit there again. Why not the bedroom?” I shrugged.

“I just- it didn’t feel right bringing someone in there yet.”

“I see.”

“Are you hungry?” I asked her.

“Yeah, starved.”

I made us some waffles and we ate it while we watched TV.

“So, are you going out with him again?” She asked me.

“Yeah, he’s taking me to a Nickelback concert.”

“That’s nice﹘what does he do for a living anyway?”

“He’s a talent manager.”

“His parents are rich?” She asked.

“I guess, they bought him this panty dropping car and he said they own a lot off businesses.”

“Wow, you pulled well.” She nudged me.

“It’s not about the money, I think he’s actually a pretty good guy.
